Hi Bob
From the NZTA website http://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicle/classes-standards/class.html Your trailer is Class TB, light trailer. Surprisingly there is NO Certification requirements for this class- the only requirements are for the WOF inspection.
I have seen some appallingly dangerous trailers built and put onto the road, without any form of Engineering Inspection other than the WOF. From what you say of your qualifications and experience, you should be able to do an excellent job, and there is no special inspection required.

I own the trailer listed below and want to replace the entire axle set up with a tandem setup but cannot find details regarding the processes involved with certifications/compliance etc. (if any) could you steer me in the correct direction please. I am a fitter, turner & machinist, Maintenance fitter, Aircraft Engineer as well as a few extras within the engineering trades.
Vehicle type: Trailer/Caravan
Body style: Other Commercial Trailer
Country of origin: New Zealand
Gross vehicle mass: 2,500kg
Axle type: 1-Axle Semi-Trailer
No of axles: 1
Rear axle group rating: 2,200

your reply would be most appreciated

regards Bob
