More Limousines build to order, right here in New Zealand. Why import some tired old American limo, and pay for RHD Conversion, when you could have a beautiful strech limo built to your specifications. Land Transport and LVVTA Have developed strict guidelines, which ensure that all vehicles drive, handle, ride, and steer safely and pleasantly, and that all safety standards are met.
Key issues are:
- Weight- LTNZ will allow an increase of 30% of the manufacturers axle loading. This requires careful design of the vehicle before construction, planning of the numbers and positions of seats, and carefull control of all weights of materials.
- Design of seats and seatbelt systems- rear-facing seats must be designed to stop the occupants in a frontal collision, this means that a very substantial bulkhead is required. Strong headrests are mandatory. All seats must have seatbelts, laps for side-facing seats.
- Structual strength and stiffness- the completed limo is subjected to beam and torsional tests under full load, to show that the structure is strong enough and stiff enough. It is amazing to see that even the open limos are actually stiffer and stronger than some standard cars, and without any major weight penalty.
- Driving and performance- each limo has to meet tthe LVV Standards for cornering, braking and steering. The limos of More Limousines are actually light and pleasant to drive on New Zealand’s windy hilly roads, unlike some American Limos which are clearly not intended for this type of driving.
